JACKSON, MS. (WLBT ) - Local college football stars got a chance to impress professional scouts Saturday night at Smith Wills Stadium.
The combine was designed for HBCU and small college athletes allowing them to run routes, 40-yard dash, bench press and different agility drills in order to get their times out to professional scouts.
Athletes from Alcorn State, Jackson State, Mississippi College and Millsaps were in attendance.
Players say it was a great experience.
"Measure and test ourselves. These guys from these small colleges, it was like an interview to test our ability to see where we are at and where we are trying to go. It was fun and a great experience," said Mississippi College defensive back Jarrad Craine.
"I'm pretty impressed. There are some receivers out there that were running consistent 4.3 (40-yard dash). If you can consistently run 4.3, you can get to the NFL," said Team 82 owner Jimmy Smith.
Team 82 was one of the sponsors for the combine.
