The Salvation Army's Corps Community Center now offers a place for people to work on their fitness.
The wellness walking track was dedicated Monday morning at the organization's new facility on Beasley Road in Jackson.
It features a lighted, three-quarter mile walking track which outlines the property.
The scenic walkway also has 10 fitness areas and 12 meditation stations.
The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation donated more than $200,000 to build the track as part of its vision for a healthier Mississippi.
Sheila Grogan with the BCBS foundation said, "We hope the walking track will encourage all of the residents of the greater Jackson area to become healthier and focus on their health."
Captain Ken Chapman with the Salvation Army added to Grogan's statement by saying, "And we want to fight childhood obesity. We want to help bring the message to the people of Mississippi that we can all have healthier lifestyles."
The walking track is open to the public and free of charge.
