Stormy Morning & Messy Commute For Today

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The early morning drive to work has been a challenge, especially in the south west portions of the state where rainfall has been consistent all morning long.  Some of the Doppler estimates of rainfall have been 2.5" of rain within a  6 hour period. Expect highs to reach into the lower 70s, winds southwest at 10-15 mph.

Tonight the majority of the rain is expected to stop, but the heavy cloud cover sticking around. The winds will be light and variable with temps staying in the mid 50s. We may see a bit of fog develop after the late night hours; and particularly after midnight.

Tomorrow we'll still have a slight risk of showers, but for the most part it's expected to stay dry. Look for a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, partly sunny as well. Our chances of rain go on the rise by the evening hours, following highs in the mid 70s. Thursday night expect mostly cloudy skies with a 50% chance of showers; lows around 60 degrees.
