JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - JPS held its first signing day ceremony featuring all the schools in the district.
25 student athletes inked their names to different junior colleges and four year schools, including nine from Provine, seven from Callaway and six from Murrah.
Several players decided to take their talents to the SWAC next season.
Callaway running back Daryl Jones, Jr. Signed with Texas Southern and Provine running back Jeremy Dobson signed with Mississippi Valley State.
"It's a wonderful day. A day I've been dreaming about ever since I started playing football. Leading up to the day was kind of nerve racking because I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do but when I took a visit down to Houston, I enjoyed the visit. I like the school and I like what they were saying about academics," said Jones, Jr.
"It feels real good, you know, I made up my mind last weekend that I'm going to go and take my talents to Mississippi Valley State. Ball handling and my kick returning and punt returning and they needed that up there," said Dobson.
JPS officials say this signing day ceremony will become an annual event.
