Dense fog this morning, 70s in the afternoon

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The dense fog for this morning put a crippling halt on traffic on many of the side roads in southern Mississippi as well as the main thoroughfares. After a slow warm up by mid morning, highs are expected to soar quickly into the mid 70s. Record highs are actually in the 80s for this time of the year, so despite the very mild pattern - it's still not a record breaking warmth in place. Winds will be moving from the south east at 10-15 mph.

Tonight the moisture content in the air will go on the rise rather rapidly; this is particularly after the midnight hour. A shift in air masses will be the result of the warm side of a massive snow storm working it's way across the mid west. By the time it reaches us, we'll see good ole' fashioned T-storms and scattered showers. Overnight lows staying in the 50s.

Friday through Sunday will mainly feature rainy conditions and cloudy skies. The winds will be primarily from the east during the weekend initially; and then swirl from the north as the rain pulls through. Our chances of showers push up to 80% for Friday and staying near 60% on Saturday.
