Arrest in beating of Vicksburg man

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson Police have made an arrest in the vicious beating and robbery of a Vicksburg man last Sunday. Twenty-nine-year-old Jontez Garvis is in custody, charged with Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault.

Fred Jackson was beaten and robbed Sunday, January 29, while working at 416 south Woodrow Wilson. He's hospitalized in critical condition.

The second man involved in the assault and robbery is still at large.

WLBT has also learned Jackson's home on Wright Road in Vicksburg was broken into and vandalized Wednesday morning. No word on what, if anything, was taken.

The Warren County Sheriff's Department is investigating.
