Man shoots ex-girlfriend at Jackson night club

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A man opened fire inside a Jackson night club, shooting his ex-girlfriend after witnesses say she refused to dance with him.

JPD Officer Colendula Green says shots rang out at the Tropicana Night Club in the 2400 block of Terry Road in the Jackson Square Promenade.

Investigators say 31-year-old Roger Reyes Ortega shot the victim while she sat at the bar.

Witnesses told police Ortega pulled out a gun and shot the un-named 34-year-old woman in the right chin and left chest.

Ortega was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault. The victim remains hospitalized.
