Man involved in fatal chase accident denied bond

BRANDON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Robert Williams, the man accused of causing a wreck that killed a woman in Rankin County Sunday, has been denied bond. Rankin County Judge Kent McDaniel told Williams he was "An extreme danger to the public."

In addition to the charge of causing a death, Williams is also charged with assault on a police officer. He's accused of trying to run over a Ridgeland Police Officer as they pursued him for shoplifting two carts of groceries.

He led Ridgeland and Flowood officers on a chase, with speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour, across the reservoir dam and eventually collided with a woman at Highway 25 and Grants Ferry Road.
