The tri-county Sheriff's joined forces and other local crime fighting leaders announced the upcoming "Take a Tasty Bite out of Crime" fundraiser on May 7th. The fundraiser features more than fifty food vendors and entertainment acts.
Twenty-five percent of the proceeds from the event help keep the Metro One helicopter running. From the sky, the equipment inside of Metro One, helps nine law enforcement agencies catch criminals.
The remainder of the money supports tri-county law enforcement agencies.
"Crime prevention and education is a big thing for us, so we would probably be applying for some of that money to go out into the community and help with crime prevention activities, said Hinds County Sheriff, Tyrone Lewis.
This year's goal is to raise $100,000. For more information on "Take a Tasty Bite out of Crime" ticket sales, go to the website www.tastybiteoutofcrime.com.
