The 22-year-old Brandon woman who left her 11-month-old child at a random daycare last Friday made her first appearance before a judge Thursday morning.
Tabitha Gordy tried to cover her face as she was being put into a van for transport to the Rankin County Sheriff's Office.
Gordy did not respond to a reporter's questions about why she dropped her son off at Claudia's Daycare Center in Pearl last Friday and took off.
Her first appearance before a judge was in Pearl Municipal Court where her court appointed attorney, public defender Brendon Sartin, told municipal Judge Richard Redfern, she was waiving her preliminary hearing, which means there was no testimony.
The case was bound over to a Rankin County grand jury. Bond was set at $55,000.
Pearl police spokesman, Lt. Butch Townsend, said Gordy's two children are being cared for by family.
