More stolen vehicles recovered in Jeff Davis County

Posted: Updated:

New developments surrounding multiple vehicles stolen from the Jackson metro area. Investigators with the Jefferson Davis County Sheriff's department and Mississippi Bureau of Investigation have recovered two more trucks, totaling 8 vehicles that were stolen and then re-sold for a fraction of their value.

A 2008 Silverado was recovered Friday morning and Friday afternoon deputies tracked down a 2008 F-350 crew cab truck. Both vehicles had been sold to unsuspecting owners.

For more information you can call the Jefferson County Sheriff's department at 1-601-792-5160.

The Sheriff told us, a tip paid off, leading to an arrest. But Sheriff Ron Stickland is not ready to release information on who the auto theft suspect is.

"They had fake VIN numbers on the vehicles and they were giving them a low price if they paid cash for them," said Strickland. "If you get approached for a vehicle from an individual that's not a dealership or anything, selling a nice vehicle for a low price, be aware of it and make sure it's legitimate before you purchase it."

Innocent victims purchase the vehicles for prices ranging from $4,000-$10,000 thousand dollars cash. Two others were sold to people in Lawrence county and one in Chicago. Those vehicles are being tracked down right now.

Most of the vehicles were stolen from Jackson, Vicksburg and Flowood in June and July of last year. More arrests are possible.
