CANTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Madison County Sheriff's Deputies continue their investigation into the apparent murder of a 67-year-old canton man.

Madison County Coroner Alex Breeland says an autopsy has been performed on Willie Lee Jones, but Breeland is not releasing the official cause of death until he meets with the sheriff.

Breeland did confirm Jones had multiple stab wounds. Officials were called to the Lula B. Covington retirement homes on 1101 Holmes Avenue at noon Tuesday. A maintenance man had discovered Jones' body in Apartment 3-B.

Breeland says Jones was last seen alive less than 24 hours before his body was found.
