Miss. man killed in La. accident

Louisiana authorities say a 28-year-old Gulfport, Miss., man was killed when his pickup ran off the road and hit a tree.

Iberville Parish Sheriff's Maj. Johnny Blanchard tells The Advocate (http://bit.ly/zEdlyM ) Jeffrey Dean Preston Jr. was southbound on La. Highway 77 near Rosedale around 9 a.m. Monday when he lost control of his truck in a curve and veered off the highway, hitting the tree.

Authorities say Preston was on his way to Lafayette, where he worked for a construction company.

The Iberville Parish Coroner's Office pronounced Preston dead at the scene.
