After just 45 days in office, State Treasurer Lynn Fitch is putting more than $3 million back in the hands of Mississippians. Fitch kicked off a three-stop tour across the state in downtown Jackson, handing out money from the state's unclaimed property account.
The money typically comes from uncashed checks, security deposits, utility refunds, estates and lost refunds. The largest payment was more than $278,000. An estimated one in five people in the state has unclaimed assets. To find out if you're one of them, click here.
