1950's R&B group The Platters honor veterans

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

"Only You Can Make This World Seem Right"...lyrics to a hit song by the 1950's R&B group, the Platters and Saturday night, they could easily be singing those words to this group of veterans, in fact, the Platters did perform for them.

Receiving special recognition Saturday night a 99-year-old World War II vet and a 30-year-old severely injured Iraqi War Veteran.

"Feel good; enjoying myself," said World War II vet L.B. McBride.

"We are having a national salute to veterans welcome home concert to honor all of our veterans and to welcome home our soldiers," added Deborah Thomas, Department of Veterans Affairs.

Our own Sports Director Rob Jay Emcee'd the event at the Jackson Convention Center Complex and WLBT received an honorary thank you plaque for the station's support of the event.
