Heart Smart Sisters Kickoff event

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Area churches and the medical community unite to fight heart disease in women.

The Heart Smart Sisters program kicked off Sunday afternoon at New Horizon Church International in Jackson.

It is the launch of a 30 day program designed to teach women about being heart healthy, exercise and the warning signs of heart disease.

Four physicians, a cardiologist, family physician, ob-gyn and pediatrician took questions from women about the risks and prevention.

The Heart Smart Sisters program is created by the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan.
