CRYSTAL SPRINGS, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Crystal Springs Police are waiting for autopsy results on two bodies found at the home of 62-year-old Judy Greer.
Greer was last seen two or three weeks ago, and police think it was her body unearthed in the backyard Tuesday.
Her son, Jason Bailey, 37, was found dead last Saturday in the living room.
Investigators believe this was a murder-suicide.
People are steadily riding by the house at the corner of Lee Avenue and North Bennett Street.
One of them is Susan Fairly, 39, who used to live in the neighborhood.
"It's sad," Fairly said. "Right here in the middle of town. Do something like that. Neighbors so close, and never know it. It's awful."
There was a shallow grave just behind the house.
Police believe the body found in it is Greer.
Her ex-sister-in-law, Juanita Wade, 50, said Greer was about to receive a settlement check from Khulman Electric's successor company.
Khulman was accused of the polluting Crystal Springs while making transformers there.
"She was supposed to be getting a settlement check" Wade said. "She just said it was a pretty good bit."
Ex-brother-in-law, Dewayne Shaw, 48, had fond memories of Judy Greer.
"She was a real attractive lady" Shaw said. "She was real sweet. I mean she helped everybody in the neighborhood. Anything you needed she would help you. If you come there and told her you was hungry she would fix you a sandwich."
Chris Palmer, Chief Investigator in the case, says it is one of the most gruesome he has seen in his 19 years as a police officer.
"It is one of the most gruesome" Palmer said. "I have had some, but a person to take the life of his mother is real gruesome. It's sickening."
The shallow grave was only about two feet deep, and covered with lime.
Police are awaiting autopsy results.
