JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Two Jackson apartment complexes are seized by the Hinds County Tax Collector for failure to pay personal and real property taxes.

The Highland Square Apartments office is locked and marked seized as well as at Audubon Grove on Robinson Road in west Jackson.

No one is allowed to come or go until the tax issue is resolved by property owners.

The Hinds County Tax Collector says he's just doing his job.

"If you put them together real and personal is over a half million dollars," said Eddie Fair, Jr., Hinds Co. Tax Collector.

"It's over $700,000?"

"That's right sure it, about $700,000," Fair, Jr. Said.

Meanwhile, residents are worried.

"Where's my rent money going?," asked Erica Burton, apartment tenant. "The money that I'm paying it can't be going on my taxes; if it were' we wouldn't be in the situation we are in today."

"It's a lot of concerns, cause if we can't pay our rent, then were can we go?," asked another apartment resident.

The property owners are listed as living in California, and in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Residents can still live at the seized apartments.

If the real property taxes are not paid, officials intend to put the apartment complexes in a tax sale.
