CYPRESS, Texas (AP) - A pilot has suffered minor injuries in the nighttime crash landing of his airplane in the playground of a Houston-area school.
The damaged twin-engine plane on Friday remained in the yard of Warner Elementary School in the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says the Beechcraft Baron 58 apparently had mechanical trouble around 7 p.m. Thursday.
Trooper John Sampa says the right wing was torn off when the plane clipped a pole and ended up against a fence at the school.
Officials say the pilot, whose name hasn't been released, was bound from Vicksburg, Miss., to West Houston Airport.
The school planned a normal scheduled Friday.
