SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) - The Southaven Chamber of Commerce says it will release a report documenting reimbursements it paid to Mayor Greg Davis.
A four-sentence press release by executive director Ginger Adams to The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/zBxLPp ) says the chamber is concerned about "allegations in the media" regarding Davis' spending and that it will release a report and backup documents "soon," but provided few details.
The statement follows reports in the newspaper that Davis received as much as $123,807 from the chamber between 2008 and 2010 for expenses incurred while promoting the city to prospective businesses.
Davis is being investigated by state and federal officials for the misuse of $170,000 of city money. He has repaid $96,000, but he still owes nearly $63,000.
