JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Vicksburg pilot received only minor injuries after landing his plane in a Cypress, Texas, school parking lot Thursday night. Thirty-seven-year-old Pace Boler of Vicksburg was treated at a local hospital.

Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constables said the twin-engine plane, a Beechcraft Baron 58, crashed in the parking lot of Warner Elementary around 7 PM.

Officials said the pilot experienced engine trouble and tried to make an emergency landing in a field, but he saw children there and had to find an alternate place to go down.

Trooper John Sampa says the right wing was torn off when the plane clipped a pole and ended up against a fence at the school.

Boler left Vicksburg, headed to West Houston Airport. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
