Students at Jackson State University who're exploring the possibility of entering a career with an emphasis in computers and technology are invited to a special symposium called the "Real Talk Career Symposium."
It's a chance to learn more about what's needed to succeed in a technology based career like computer science. During Friday's session, representatives from Union Pacific discussed job opportunities. There were also mock interviews and discussions on managing finances after graduation.
On Saturday, the symposium begins at 9:00 a.m. and will last until 3:00 p.m. Interactive sessions will include how to apply your degree, protecting your information online and learning how to develop critical thinking skills.
"I hope the students can take away all the information that our alumni are giving to them, just reaching back, the do's and the don't's regarding the interviewing process, they'll be doing mock interviews, resume critiquing," said JSU Computer Science Department staff member Evette Stewart.
The symposium is taking place on the Jackson State University campus in the John A. Peoples building.
