JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Information Technology alumni return to Jackson State University to prepare students for working in the real world.

The two day "Real Talk Career Symposium" got underway Friday and was held in the Department of Computer Science.

The seminar offered students information from interviewing and networking to managing their finances after college.

Information Technology professionals, who graduated from the university, hosted the event.

Saturday's session focused on real life applications for their degrees and marketing themselves to potential employers.

"What we really wanted to focus on here was to bring our I.T. professional experience back to this department and really to nurture the students and share our experience as I.T. professionals," said Alumnus Tamara Ward.

"We've come from all across the state," said Alumnus Christina Wash. "Originally we actually lived here but we're back just to give back, because we want to make sure that our students are prepared for the future."

This is the second year alumni have returned to conduct the symposium.
