Police chase suspect appears in Rankin Co. court

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Kokomo, Mississippi man who led law enforcement officers on a chase through Rankin and Hinds Counties earlier this month, had a preliminary hearing in Rankin County Tuesday morning.

Kristopher Lambert, 32, faces multiple charges of grand larceny, auto theft, felony fleeing, giving false information to a police officer, plus leaving the scene of an accident.

Authorities say Lambert stole a pickup truck and tried to out-run officers.

Raymond Duke, Rankin County Investigator, testified Tuesday before Judge Kent McDaniel, that Lambert led several law enforcement agencies down Highway 43, to Pelahatchie, onto Interstate 20, then to I-55 at speeds up to 90 miles-per-hour.

Lambert was finally stopped in Byram where he was taken into custody.

The Rankin County District Attorney says Lambert will be tried as an habitual offender, meaning he could face life behind bars.
