JACKSON,MS (WLBT) - Many people took advantage Thursday by clearing their records and paying off old fines.
Each year, Jackson Police Headquarters plays host to the annual Amnesty Day. The event gives individuals a chance to pay off old traffic and misdemeanor fines.
"That is kind of why we decided to it around tax time, people get extra money from what they normally have," said Jeanette Banks, court administrator.
Last year, the city of Jackson raised over $316-thousand dollars. The amnesty event will last until Friday beginning from 9am until 8pm.
