PELAHATCHIE, Miss. (AP) - A 53-year-old Louin man was killed and another man injured in a single-vehicle accident in Rankin County.
The Clarion-Ledger reports Kenneth Wedgeworth was pronounced dead Thursday when the car he was riding in left Antioch Shiloh Road, hit some trees, and landed upside down in a private pond around 4 p.m.
Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey said 29-year-old Michael Sessions of Mendenhall, the driver, freed himself once the car came to rest in the water. He says Sessions was sitting on the bank when deputies and first responders arrived.
Bailey says beer cans were all around the car in the water and inside the vehicle, leading authorities to believe the accident could have been alcohol-related.
