JEFFERSON DAVIS COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations and the Jefferson Davis County Sheriff's Department are investigating a triple homicide that occurred overnight.
Authorities arrived at a home at 89 T.W. Bass Road, in Carson Community in Jefferson Davis County after reports of gunfire by neighbors.
The victims are identified as Arvin Smith, 81; Maxine Smith, 74; and Roland Smith, 48. Investigators say Arvin and Maxine Smith were Roland Smith's parents.
Investigator John Wayne Tolar with the Jefferson Davis Sheriff's Department says, "We are questioning suspects at this time. We're still processing the scene."
As a group of relatives watched Friday morning, investigators brought weapons, a computer and other evidence out of the home.
"From the information we gathered, it was drug-related," said relative Greg Dyess. "Not so much with my uncle and aunt, but it was drug-related."
Roland Smith was recently arrested for drug possession. Some family members believe his past may have caught up with him -- and affected his parents in the process.
