Callaway beats Wayne County 54-44 for 5A title

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Treshawn Bolden scored 16 points to lead Callaway past Wayne County for a 54-44 victory in the Class 5A MHSAA state championship game.

Terron Gilmore, a Murray State signee, chipped in 13 points and freshman Malik Newman added 12 for the Chargers (24-6), who claimed their third state title in four years.

Avery Woodson, a Southeastern Louisiana signee, led Wayne County with a game-high 22 points. Raeford Worsham added 15 for the War Eagles, who finished with a 33-2 record but fell short of winning back-to-back state titles.
