Pregnant teen shot in stable condition

WARREN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Sheriff Martin Pace says 18-year-old Kayla Allen was shot twice inside the Pecan Ridge Mart on Freetown Road in the Culkin Community.

Allen is seen here with her boyfriend Arrinton Bowman, who was with her when she argued with three female juveniles Saturday.

Bowman tells WLBT that Allen is pregnant, but is in stable condition.

He called 911 when the teenagers left the store.

According to investigators, they returned with their grandfather, 60-year-old Willie McCoy.

"McCoy got out of his vehicle, he got out with a 9 millimeter handgun and begun firing into the direction of the victim, her boyfriend and the store attendant,"

Investigators say Bowman returned fire during the shooting.

McCoy is charged with three counts of aggravated assault and is scheduled to make his initial appearance Monday.

Officials say Allen suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.
