No bond for man who shot teen following grand kids argument

WARREN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

There are new developments in the Warren county shooting investigation involving a man who shot a teenager after she argued with his grandchildren.

No bond is set for the man who shot a teenager after she argued with his grandchildren.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace identified the shooting victim as 18 year old Kayla Allen.

She was shot once in the side and once in the leg following an altercation with three female juveniles inside the Sunrise Mart on Freetown Road in Culkin community.

Sixty year old Willie C. McCoy, also of the Culkin community, has been arrested for shooting Allen.

We are told her boyfriend, Arrinton Bowman,  was also inside the store when she argued with three teenagers Saturday.

Sources  told WLBT that Allen is pregnant, but she and the baby are in stable condition.

According to investigators, he called 911 when the teens left the store, but they returned minutes later with their grandfather.

"McCoy got out of his vehicle, he got out with a 9 millimeter handgun and begun firing...They were all in close proximity one to the other actually behind the counter seeking cover when McCoy began firing," said Sheriff Pace.

Authorities said Bowman returned fire during the shooting.

They said Allen suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

"This has apparently been an argument that had been going on and actually we're finding out that they actually all know each other because they live in close proximity to each other here in the Culkin community," said Pace.

McCoy is charged with three counts of aggravated assault for shooting at Allen, Bowman and the store clerk.

"Very poor decision, availability of a firearm, and it just took it to the next level. We're just thankful no one was killed," added the sheriff.

McCoy is scheduled to make an initial court appearance Monday.
