Trial date set for Williams sheriff's death - MSNewsNow.com - Jackson, MS
LUCEDALE, Miss. (AP) - A judge has set an Aug. 27 trial date for Brandy Nicole Williams, 1 of 2 people charged with capital murder in the July 21, 2010, death of George County Sheriff Garry Welford.
Williams appeared in court Monday for a status conference.
Williams and Christopher Baxter are accused of running over Welford during a vehicle pursuit in George County.
The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/xdiHAw ) both have pleaded not guilty and have remained jailed since their arrests. Baxter is set to go to trial May 7 in Adams County.
A change of venue was granted for Baxter's trial because or publicity.
The same is expected when Williams goes to trial.
