TUTWILER, Miss. (AP) - A Mississippi town's leaders will hear from a former police chief who is appealing his firing over a video purportedly showing city employees encouraging a mentally disabled man to eat a mouthful of cinnamon as a prank.
WABG-TV reports that city attorney Reneitha Freison has announced the Tutwiler Board of Aldermen will hear from former Police Chief Terry Tyler on March 19.
The "Cinnamon Challenge" is a prank in which people try to swallow the spice without water. It dries the mouth and usually causes them to cough and spit. Tutwiler aldermen voted Feb. 14 to fire Tyler, two officers, the town clerk and a court clerk.
