TUNICA, Miss. (AP) - Tunica County authorities have made a cold case arrest 10 years after a woman was found dead.
The Commercial Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/wCfJ1Z ) Sheriff K. C. Hamp says Marcus Martez Taylor, a former neighbor of victim, 45-year-old Joann Cornes, has been charged with murder in the case.
The 29-year-old Taylor is serving three years at the state penitentiary on drug charges for selling marijuana.
Last month, he was indicted on charges of burglary of a dwelling, armed robbery and rape that occurred at a home in Tunica on March 8, 2002.
Tunica investigators submitted evidence to the Mississippi Crime Lab, and last year Taylor was identified as a suspect.
The nude body of Cornes was found by a Tunica Grain Elevator and Rice Dryer employee on July 23, 2002.
