Woman shot in Madison County

MADISON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Madison County authorities are trying to locate the man wanted in a Wednesday morning home invasion and shooting.

It happened at 10:45 Wednesday morning at 739 Old Jackson Road, just outside of Canton.

Madison County Sheriff Randy Tucker says Derrick Robinson, 37, kicked in the door of the home, then assaulted and shot his ex-girlfriend. 

She was shot twice in the head, and in the abdomen.

Robinson then fled the scene in a silver Hyundai Sonata with Louisiana plates.

The shooting victim who was alert and talking, was transported to U.M.C..

Her condition is not known at this time.

The sheriff's department says that Robinson also carjacked the victim last Friday at the Walmart in Madison.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call local law enforcement.

Robinson is considered armed and dangerous.
