There are all sorts of things for inside and outside the home at the 'Home and Products Extravaganza' this weekend at the Mississippi Trademart.
It's a big draw as the season turns to spring.
"We have lots of folks coming in today," said Marsha Barber, Chairwoman for the event. "The public has always enjoyed the home show, we're ready to get it going for this year, 2012."
Many of the visitors have new flowerbeds on their minds.
"It's time to landscape," said Blake Boyer, owner of Ambience Landscaping. "Warming up now. Easter is right around the corner."
Families are learning about their landscape options, for large or small jobs, simple or elaborate.
Garden Mama Nellie Neal is on hand, giving seminars on the tropical plants that are popular in the south.
She recommends that tropicals get partial shade in the afternoon.
Neal also has this tip for keeping your outdoor ferns fresh and green.
"If you're hanging ferns on your porch, take them down once a week," Neal said. "Take the saucer off the bottom. Drop the whole thing into a bucket with water and fertilizer. Soak a couple of hours, hang it back up, walk away."
And a first for the home show: The Dream Bedroom Designer Challenge.
Similar to interior design reality shows on TV, six Jackson-area designers have set up bedrooms.
Visitors to the show are allowed to vote on their favorite, for a chance to win a grill.
"When they buy their ticket, they get a ballot," said Susan Upton, Editor-In-Chief of Stages MS. "They get to vote on which one they like the best."
The Home and Products Extravaganza runs Sunday as well, from noon to 4:00pm.
