JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
The Her2+ form of breast cancer is considered the most aggressive type.
It also generally has a poor prognosis.
A group called Rebirth Alliance, led by local activist Stephanie Parker-Weaver, held a first-of-its-kind seminar on Saturday, at the Cabot Lodge in Jackson.
It's all about Her2+ and Triple- breast cancer, treatment, and support.
Doctors from cancer treatment centers were on hand, as well as Dr. Lucio Miele, the Director of the UMC Cancer Institute.
The seminar also included information for hospice workers, and families of those suffering from these breast cancer types.
"More importantly we're gonna be talking bout finding joy in the midst of our journey of many, survival of few," Parker-Weaver said. "There are others who are in this conference who are just like me. We want to put a different face to the Her2+ gene."
Parker-Weaver is a survivor of Her2+.
Her Rebirth Alliance focuses on those who suffer from Her2+ and Triple- breast cancers.
