A father and son were shot in Hinds County Saturday afternoon and investigators blame an intoxicated land owner.
Captain Joseph Daughtry with the Hinds County Sheriff's Department said the shooting happened on Parsons Road located between Midway and Dry Grove Roads.
Investigators said an unidentified 13 or possibly 15-year-old was riding a four wheeler on land in the area when 61-year-old Hunter Yarbrough came out of his house and pointed a shotgun at the boy.
He reportedly told the teenager to get off his land.
The boy left and in the meantime Daughtry said the sheriff's department received several reports that Yarbrough was standing in the road threatening passing cars with the shotgun.
The teen on the four wheeler returned with his father and deputies said Yarbrough opened fire.
According to authorities, he was intoxicated when taken into custody.
"We really don't now at this time what took place, but what we do know is that the suspect then shot the father and son and then went back into the house," said Daughtry.
The unidentified father and son were transported to a local hospital and are said to be in stable condition.
Yarbrough is charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
