McTeer campaigns for congressional seat

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The former Mayor of Greenville unveiled her plans for the Second Congressional District as she challenges Incumbent Bennie Thompson.

Democratic Congressional Candidate Heather McTeer held a campaign rally Saturday afternoon in Jackson.

It followed stops Friday in Grenada and Hinds County.

The rallies are giving McTeer the chance to meet voters and hear her vision for healthy families and healthy communities.

The delta native also shared the details of her 10 Point Plan for Change which addresses education, job training, health and wellness, broadband access and improving the small business community.

"I'll be the only woman that's on the ballot, and I'm talking about vision, planning, purpose, what we need to do in our community in order to move us to the next level. So I'm excited. I talked a little about my 10 Point Plan that will lay the ground work for how we're going to change things," said McTeer.

The Mississippi Democratic Primary is Tuesday March 13th.
