JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Firefighters are battling an apartment blaze in west Jackson.
Jackson Deputy Fire Chief R.D. Simpson says crews responded to The Park At Autumn Ridge Apartments in the 800 block of Lindbergh Drive.
The complex is known formerly as The Glen Oaks Apartments. When units arrived shortly after 8 p.m., Simpson said heavy smoke and flames were coming from bottom floor apartment H-5.
Residents tell WLBT that the fire started from children playing with matches.
Officials have not confirmed an actual cause.
Investigators say between 8 and 10 occupied apartments were destroyed.
Affected residents managed to escape and there have been no reports of injuries.
