GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) - A Greenwood community group is moving forward with its plan to acquire two cemeteries run by the Odd Fellows Lodge.
There has been some worry about the future of the Greenwood Odd Fellows Cemetery and the Odd Fellows East Cemetery as membership in the Odd Fellows organization dwindles and the current members grow older.
The group, which will likely call itself the Greenwood Cemetery Association, recently selected officers, including Charles Peel, manager of Wilson & Knight Funeral Home.
Peel tells the Greenwood Commonwealth (http://bit.ly/zi0Xrs ) that an attempt is being made to computerize the cemeteries' burial records and to label burial plots by name.
