WEST CLEVELAND, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi State students taking in a history course about the Mississippi Delta are among students spending the week in that area for an alternative spring break with academic credit.
The 23 students and accompanying faculty and staff plan service learning projects and visits to various cultural and historical locales.
North Greenwood Baptist Church is hosting the students, who attended services on Sunday there and at Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
On Monday, they're going to Delta State University to meet with Luther Brown, director of the Delta Center for Culture and Learning, and take a "Most Southern Place on Earth" tour.
The week also includes visits to Shelby, Cleveland, and Clarksdale.
