
They are in Jackson from 27 states and Canada for the largest cutting horse open show in the world.
It's the 33rd Annual NCHA Eastern National Championships, presented by 6666 Ranch based in Guthrie, Texas.
Organizers say entries for this year's competition are up 300 from last year, which means more than 960 entrants are battling from nearly $800,000 in prize money.
Cutters are competing in the Kirk Fordice Equine Center on the Mississippi State Fairgrounds.
"This is a free event," said Ray Smith of the Mississippi Cutting Horse Association. "You can come in and watch the cutting horse show and it doesn't cost you anything. We have booths set up here from all over the country."
And there's all sorts of horse related items for sale.
The 2-week event started March 5th and ends Friday.
