Man sentenced to life in prison for murder

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson man was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole for murder Monday.

31-year-old Nicholas Khan Carson was convicted by a Hinds County jury for capital murder and felon in possession of a firearm.

Authorities say Carson shot and killed Roderick McDonald back in January 2009.

He was also sentenced to 10-years for the felon-in-possession-of-a-firearm charge.

The sentences are to run consecutively.
