Charges upgraded in deadly beating and robbery

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Charges have been upgraded in the death of a Vicksburg man who was beaten, robbed, and left for dead back in January.

61-year-old Fred Louis Jackson died March 9th. He'd been in a coma since the attack that occurred at Tri-Miss Recycling on West Woodrow Wilson Avenue.

Jackson Police say two men charged in connection with the crime appeared in municipal court Monday.

The charges against 29-year-old Jontez Garvis of Jackson and 25-year-old David Thomas were upgraded to capital murder.
