Rep. Gregg Harper votes in primary election

PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Representative Gregg Harper, Mississippi's third district Republican Congressman, voted Tuesday morning in his home precinct in Pearl.

Rep. Harper cast his ballot at the Skyway Hills Church of Christ.

Harper came with his whole family to vote.

After he voted, we talked with him about the presidential race in Mississippi.

Rep. Harper said he thought Mississippi had gotten more national attention this year, than it had since 1976 when Ronald Regan challenged President Gerald Ford in a primary.

When we asked him for predictions in this year's presidential race, he gave a careful answer.

"I think the polling you know, that I have looked at, for the three main contenders for the presidential nomination, indicate it's too close to call," Rep. Harper said. "It depends on who you ask, and what area of the state that you go to. You have got to hand it to all three of those candidates, they have worked really hard, in Mississippi and I am sure like us they are waiting to see if all that hard work paid off."

The voter turnout in Mississippi has been mostly light.
