Madison County emergency management director suspended

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

WLBT has learned Madison County's emergency management director is in hot water.

Sources tell 3 on Your Side, Butch Hammack and an agency employee were both given three day suspensions for an incident that occurred in the chancery court building in Canton.

We were told the incident involved the discharge of a firearm in the building.

I contacted District Two Supervisor Ronny Lott who said Board President John Bell Crosby advised him to direct all questions to Crosby, "because of the sensitive nature". So far, Crosby has not returned our calls.

I also tried to reach Hammack for comment. The person who answered the phone said Hammack was out of the office but she would have him call me.

So far, Hammack has not returned my call.
