MADISON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
No one died as a result of a horrific accident between a dumptruck and a sedan on Interstate 55 over the Big Black River Friday morning. According to Corporal Odis Easterling of the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the two drivers are in stable condition, despite being ejected from their vehicles.
The accident occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m., on the Madison-Yazoo County line at mile marker 129 in the southbound lanes. The wreck is under preliminary investigation, but Easterling says they think the Toyota Avalon ran into the back of the truck, putting the accident in motion.
The Toyota was left in a twisted mess in the median, while the dumptruck was on its side, west of the roadway and entangled in trees on the bank of the Big Black.
