COLUMBUS, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Three Jackson residents face drug charges after officers found 15 pounds of marijuana during a search of the car they were traveling in.

Columbus Police Chief Selvain McQueen says Patrick Holiday, 33, Conesha Holiday, 24, and Alberry Ervin, Jr., 41, were stopped by an agent with the department's narcotics task force on Highway 182 near the Country Mart Store Thursday.

McQueen says the officer asked for permission to search the vehicle, but had to use a canine officer after the passengers said they couldn't find a key to the trunk.

He says the dog hit on narcotics, and nearly 15 pounds of marijuana was found after a key was provided to officers.

All three are charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
