JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
All of the pets are sporting green at this year's St. Paddy's Day pet parade. But if you think all the pets are pooches, think again!
Millicent Claire is a pig, belonging to Lisa Edwards of Madison. Millicent won best performance in the pet parade. And she really is a family member.
"She sleeps with us, she's house trained," Edwards says. "They say to train em like a cat, with a litter box. We didn't. We took her outside, like dog."
Dogs large and small turned heads walking the "cat walk", fishing for first prize.
Susan Raphael's pair of dogs won a trophy. "Got Lila and Susie, they're shetland sheepdogs. They were out here having fun. Throwing moon pies, doing things we like to do in the south," she says of their outfits and accessories.
After the animals.. The children had a chance to glisten in green. Some were walking, but some were carted around in wagons by mom and dad.
A troop of Girl Scouts teamed up to take part in the parade.
"I'm with Emily, Emma, Ashlyn, Trinity, Sarah, we're Troop 5349, we're gonna be in the St. Paddy's Day parade," said Christa Haycraft.
Others went solo.
"Just having fun. Celebrating St. Patrick's Day, having fun," said Travis Brewer of Jackson.
