Man fatally shot at convenience store

PICKENS, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Holmes County authorities investigated a fatal shooting at a convenience store Sunday.

Sheriff Willie March said it happened at the BP station on Highway 17 at Kangaroo Crossing in Pickens.

Around 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon investigators said 21-year-old Katarah Allen of Pickens was shot and killed at the store.

According to Sheriff March, Allen was outside his vehicle when witnesses said another man opened fire then fled.

Sheriff March confirms 25 year old James Carter from Vaughn and 22 year old Kimberly Evers from Pickens are now in custody and are charged with murder.  They were arrested along with six others at the LaQuinta Inn in Jackson.
